In reply to restlessjo.He was colorful. The governor of North Carolina sent a contingent of military to arrest him, but that was not in his nature. He died in a battle from gunshot and stab wounds.

A question recently popped up on a game show - 'what did Blackbeard do to prior to going into battle.' I got it wrong. If your post had been one week earlier, I'd have been correct! Great trivia fact and wonderful post. Maybe the lighting of the beard and the guns strapped across his chest had something to do with the 'mysterious circumstances' surrounding the sinking of the ship?? Just saying.
