On our recent Carnival Conquest cruise of the Western Caribbean, we stopped at Isla Roatan, an island off the coast of Honduras. This idyllic tropical island’s cruise ship port has two shipwrecks that are visible from the decks of the cruise ships that dock there. The large freighter in the center of the image ran aground in the area known as Dixon Cove. There are plenty of versions online as to what happened to this freighter. The most believable stories indicate this ship caught fire and what was left of the cargo of lumber was carted off by locals. The remains weren’t worth the cost of salvage so the ship remains an interesting sight as one enters the harbor.

About the photo: I had my Nikon with me that morning, but as is often the case, I sometimes pull out my Samsung phone, in this case, the S6 to focus on a Cellpic Sunday post. At some time in the next few weeks, more detailed images of the harbor will be posted. In the meantime, this shot of Dixon Cove features an overall view. After downloading to my computer, I tweaked the image with my two favorite photo tools, Adobe Lightroom and Luminar Flex.
