Lens-Artists Challenge #329 – Last Chance 2024

Old Main.

Our end-of-the-year challenge is this week. There is no specific Lens-Artist host for this challenge, as the team is acting as joint hosts for the week. The rules are simple: Share your images created in 2024 that either did not meet the criteria for a theme or were created after a specific theme was published. As the team members act as hosts this week, you can link any team member’s post in your response. You can also link to your post in any team member’s comment section.

For my entry this week, I picked one of the photos taken on the campus of North Dakota State University. Last summer, I walked around the campus and photographed several buildings for a post about the University. The photo I chose to share is this image of Old Main. Originally known as College Hall, Old Main was the first building constructed on the North Dakota Agricultural College (NDAC) campus. The building opened to students in 1893.

Kinderdijk windmills.

The Kinderdijk windmills are a group of 19 historic windmills in the Netherlands. They were built in the 18th century to pump excess water from low-lying land reclaimed from the sea. In October, we toured the city of Rotterdam and made a side trip to see some of the country’s iconic windmills.

Kudu doe.

Finally, I included these two wildlife photos on our photo safari to Kruger National Park in South Africa. They will also be included in this Friday’s Kruger National Park – Day 6 post. Then, I will tell the stories about these encounters.

Leopard cub.

We waited until the last full day of our safari before we got clear photos of leopards. We’d encountered a few individuals, but they always hid in thick grass or deep in thickets. I’ll save the rest of the story about the mother leopard and her two cubs until Friday. For pixel peepers, I’ve uploaded these images to my Flickr site in 2K HD here.

As we approach the close of 2024, the Lens-Artists team will be on hiatus, returning on Saturday, January 4. As is our tradition, we will open the New Year with our Favorite Photos of 2024 challenge.

  1. Beautiful last chance selections that made the cut, John! That building on the campus is beautiful! Love the leopard and doe (hopefully they weren’t too close together) 😉 Have a wonderful break and enjoy the holidays!
