OK, so sue me… I forgot to post a Cellpic Sunday image yesterday. Last night I was out with my Nikon D7000 and Tamron 16-300 mm lens. I’m sure you all haven’t seen enough pictures of yesterday’s Harvest Super Blood Moon eclipse, so here are a couple more. The image above meets all of the criteria for a Cellpic Sunday. It was taken with my Samsung S6 smartphone unedited.
Cellphone cameras, especially the latest models, are convenient and surprisingly high quality. But they do have limitations. For my admittedly late Cellpic Sunday, the above image is the best my cellphone could do. It was actually better than I thought it would be.
For comparison sake, I’m including the best image of the many that I captured from the tripod-mounted Nikon and zoom lens. These pictures were actually taken south of Moorhead, Minnesota, about 20 minutes from our house over a dark field with few city lights.
Exposure details for the photo curious…
Upper image: Samsung S6, f/1.9 internal lens @ 4 mm. No exposure time or ISO listed in the image properties.
Lower image: Nikon D7000; Tamron 16-300 mm @ 300 mm. f/6.3 2 sec. ISO-360.

OMG that is amazing! How beautiful, we had total cloud coverage here and the moon was not visible… Once again we find ourselves living vicariously through your website, and for this, we thank you!
Thanks! We are lucky that the clouds cleared out just before the eclipse started
