Charleston, South Carolina.
On a trip through the mid-Atlantic states, we spent a couple of days in Charleston, South Carolina, soaking up the history and beauty of this Southern gem. A friend recommended we stay at the Harbour View Inn, which is within walking distance of the city’s port and downtown areas.
The Harbour View Inn has a rich history rooted in Charleston’s past. While the hotel opened in 1998, its location has a much more storied history. The property dates back to the early 1800s.
The city has weathered significant historical events, such as the Civil War and a devastating 1886 earthquake that struck Charleston. It was founded in 1670 as Charles Town, named after King Charles II of England. Due to its strategic location on the coast, it grew and became a significant trading port. The Harbour View Inn is a testament to Charleston’s enduring spirit and ability to preserve its past while embracing the present.
About the photo: I captured it with my Samsung S23U on a beautiful February day. I spent only a few minutes enhancing the image I downloaded from my cell phone. I always import photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic as I have come to know, if not love, its quirky catalog system. From there, I sent it off to Photoshop to erase some of the vestiges of modern cities, traffic cones on the sidewalk, and small city dumpsters parked on the curb awaiting trash day pickup. Despite Lightroom Classic adding these erase tools, they aren’t as sophisticated in object removal as Photoshop’s tools.
From there, I loaded the image into Luminar Neo to finish with creative touches and a gentle application of Accent AI. At some point, I may send the picture back into Photoshop for a day-to-night conversion, as I think this photo might present an opportunity for an hour or so of creative fun.
I encourage fellow bloggers to create their own Cellpic Sunday posts. I never have a specific topic for this feature, and the only rules are that the photo must be captured with a cell phone, iPad, or another mobile device… If you have an image from a drone or even a dashcam, that’s also acceptable. The second rule is to link your challenge response to this post or leave a comment here with a link to your post in the comment. Oh, you don’t have to post it on a Sunday.
