Cellpic Sunday – 15 October 2017

San Antonio, Texas.

In a few weeks, I’ll be sharing images captured with a new camera during my trip to San Antonio. What brought me to Texas that week was the Civil Air Patrol National Conference. On the day I arrived in San Antonio, Hurricane Harvey was battering Houston. San Antonio was battened down as they expected to receive some of the fury of the hurricane. As it turned out, a last minute shift in the storm spared the city that is the home of the Alamo. The clouds were low and heavy with periods of light rain and sprinkles the only indication of the challenges being faced some 300 miles (480 km) east. San Antonio’s famed River Walk restaurant row was all but shut down, the canal cruises were closed. I spent that afternoon walking and exploring the area and was surprised to find the Alamo is located only a short distance from our hotel. The cloudy skies and light sprinkles contributed to the feeling that this image would best be shared in black and white.

As usual, I always snap a few cellphone pics so that I have some potential images for this Cellpic Sunday feature. This photo was one of many I’d taken of the Alamo, and I processed it for sharing on my Facebook Photo By Johnbo page as this week’s daily image is “black and white.” It was only today when I was scanning images that I discovered this photo was actually captured with my Samsung S7. On most browsers, click on the image to enlarge it. The rule for Cellpic Sunday is simple. The image must be captured on a mobile device.

  1. Remember the Alamo… Pee Wee never did find his bike there, as there is no basement. LOL Great B&W pic! The stars at night are big & bright…
