But I Digress – Skylum and Ukraine

Summer on the Red River

You can expect tomorrow’s Cellpic Sunday to be published as usual. Today, I have a special digression to share. The “Summer on the Red River” photo doesn’t really matter. It’s a cellphone photo that I took in 2020 and processed in part by Luminar AI. Here’s the real reason for my post today…

Regular readers know that I try to stay out of politics on this venue. However, I would like to address the war in Ukraine.

Russian forces have invaded Ukraine, confirming our worst fears. At this very hour, they are attacking us on the streets of many Ukrainian cities.

Skylum Software

For several years, I’ve used Skylum’s series of photo processing software in conjunction with Adobe Lightroom. Shortly after war broke out in Ukraine, I learned that Skylum software is based in Kyiv, and their development of Luminar Neo and other products are certainly going to take back burner to the events in motion right now.

We are at war. Skylum was proudly founded in Ukraine, and our core development center is based in Kyiv. At this harrowing time, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the on-time delivery of updates to Luminar Neo. We strive for excellence in everything we do, and we will make sure to further develop and improve Neo and to keep you updated on any news.

Skylum Software

Yesterday I got an email from Skylum with an offer to purchase templates created by Albert Dros. The set is a special limited edition for Luminar AI with a promise to provide the set for Luminar Neo soon. I bought the template set from Skylum as the proceeds from the templates are being transferred to humanitarian organizations that are helping Ukraine right now. I admire Skylum for offering a product to raise money for the people of Ukraine. Here is the product link in case you’d like to help.

  1. Thank you for writing this! Whatever happens in the world, it should not be solved with violence. My birth-country is bordering Ukraine so I am praying that the violence stops. Otherwise I try to help as much as I can. The good people do lives after them!
