Weekly Photo Challenge – Quest

Panama Canal Zone.

This week, Cheri Lucas Rowlands asks us to share a quest. You can read her entire challenge post here. For me, one journey that I hoped to take led us to the Panama Canal. I don’t even know why that was an important goal for me. No matter, in the spring of 2013, we departed Miami on the Norwegian Pearl bound for the Canal and other Latin American ports. In the opening image, the Pearl, our home for a fortnight is in port at Puerto Chiapas, Mexico, awaiting our return from the day’s excursions.

The first stop on our cruise docked us at Cartagena, Colombia. We toured the oldest parts of the walled city by horse drawn carriage. As part of this challenge, I decided to review all of the images captured at each stop of our quest. Almost all of these posts are being shared for the first time, and every  image has been reprocessed from the original camera RAW file. I’ve learned much about processing images since the original photos were uploaded. I thought it might be fun to share new, hopefully higher quality images. The gallery of images below features one image from every stop on our canal cruise. Click on an image to enlarge it and to scroll through the gallery.

Feel free to search for the category Cruising. All of the Panama Canal cruise blog posts as well as all other cruise experiences will be listed. Cruising is a popular activity and my post about the Norwegian Pearl is still the most viewed page on my site even though it is now over three years old.

  1. These are beautiful and the processing is obviously a success. I especially like the first street scene with the colorful flowers. Are you using a particular software to process your pictures ?

  2. Great shooting as per usual! N’s motion sickness assures I’ll probably never be on a cruise. Thanks for allowing me to cruise vicariously through yo’ blog!
