This week, Jen H. asks that we bring a little color into the dull gray winter. You can read the entire challenge post here. My submission features the start of a new day when the gloom of the night is driven away by a bright, glorious sunrise. Having recently shared a handful of favorite sunrises, I now have the opportunity to share a few more. The shot above was taken at the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
An October visit to Bryce Canyon surprised us with a snowfall. What better way to welcome the day than morning sun on snow covered red spyres.
The sun rises on the Red River of the North near Fargo, North Dakota, illuminating the grasses of the great plains with a golden glow.
In the desert near Moab Utah, the morning sun brings out the golden tones of the buttes in Arches National Park.

Just viewed a quilt done in grey with a contrast of gold, the exact same shade as in your “vibrant” shots. Lovely!
Beautiful sunrise pictures, John. Impossible to choose a favorite because they are all wonderful.
Very nice!

Beautiful scenes, and such contrasting landcapes!
Thanks! I enjoyed looking for golden sunrises. Didn’t notice the difference in the landscapes until you mentioned it. 🙂
Inspiring… It doesn’t matter where ya’ are the sun will rise! Keep cataloging those travels, so we all can continue to live vicariously through your work and words… 😉
