This week’s Cellpic Sunday takes us to a small city in Arizona, made famous in the 1977 song by the Eagles, “Take It Easy”. In downtown Winslow, we found the now-famous statue “Standin’ on the Corner.”
But that’s not what today’s photo and post is about. Admittedly we detoured off the Interstate to see the tribute, but we also stopped for breakfast at the highly recommended La Posada Hotel. As we left our car to go into the hotel and restaurant, we passed a group of people just packing their car.
I asked permission to snap the photo above, and it was freely given. The car, a 1957 DeSoto station wagon, was being loaded after a night’s stay at the hotel. Soon the midline DeSoto Firedome and its occupants would be motoring in 1950s style down the Mother Road. For the uninitiated, the Mother Road is famously known as Route 66, which passes directly in front of the hotel. More on our visit to the hotel and our trip to Winslow to “Take It Easy” will be featured in an upcoming post.
The rule for Cellpic Sunday is simple. The image must be captured and edited on a mobile device. This image was captured and edited on my Samsung S6 cellphone. Happy Motoring! Find a bonus video of my favorite version of the song Route 66 by Asleep at the Wheel here.

Thanks!
What a gorgeous car!
Well taken care of. The owner was proud to share.
Great car and now I have that great song in my head. Take it easy, John. 🚗
