Cellpic Sunday – 31 December 2017

Buckeye, Arizona.

New Year’s Eve 2017. If you are reading this, we are back in Buckeye after our short trip home to Fargo for Christmas with family. I am actually creating this post on our first full day back in Fargo. The temperature right now is 6 degrees F. I am looking forward to heading south again to capture more of those glorious Arizona sunsets. The post is scheduled to automatically publish on New Year’s Eve. Regular readers will recognize that this photo was taken near our home in Buckeye at my favorite sunset viewpoint. Now that we are back in the great southwest, I’ll be spending more time along that short stretch of road that isn’t yet obstructed with residential lots.

About the photo: This shot was in a collection of images taken with my Nikon D7000. I just today realized that it is a cellphone image, captured with my Samsung S6 almost two years ago. When I’m out with one of my cameras, I often grab a photo with the cellphone expecting at some point to need to feature a cellpic. In this case, I lost track of this shot. Lightroom spotted it for me when I asked it to select only by camera model. Shot at f/1.9; 1/180 Sec.; ISO-40. The rule for Cellpic Sunday is simple. The image must be captured on a mobile device.

I will take this moment to wish you, dear reader, a safe, happy, and prosperous New Year!

  1. I bet you’re glad to be back in AZ! We got back to the coldest day in NC in 50 years and it’s getting worse… My knuckles are all cracked and my lips are chapped. I do not miss winter in the midwest at all…
