It’s opulence defined. The Broadmoor Resort and Hotel in Colorado Springs hearkens back to an earlier time. The long tree-lined entrance and exit roads lead to the valet parking and a classic town car awaits your ride to the railroad station. For those with the means to afford a stay in a classic luxury resort, they have spared no expense. No, we didn’t rent a room. We just wanted to “snoop” around. The hotel staff was very accommodating, even providing complimentary valet parking though we said we weren’t staying.
About the photo: On our arrival at the resort, I realized I’d forgotten my Nikon D500 at my hotel. I ended up using my Samsung S7 cell phone for the image captured here. With the old town car as a subject and nothing to give away the fact that this image was captured in the 20th year of the 21st century, I couldn’t resist giving it a vintage look. After a few tweaks in Adobe Lightroom, I used Nik’s Silver Efex 2 to convert it to monochrome. I changed the tone to a sepia, used a filter to give it the look of a popular ASA 125 film of that time, and added a light vignette to the outside edges. The rule for Cellpic Sunday is simple, the image must be captured with a mobile device.

I love this hotel. Nicely captured.
Thank you! It is a beautiful facility.
One of my wonderful wife’s best friends lives in Colorado with her husband. For years I have been suggesting a trip to the Broadmoor to meet them for a short vacation. Alas, it has not yet come to pass. Perhaps after our move to the desert…
Many thanks, John!
It would be a great place to stay, for sure.
Again, maybe one of these days.
