Big Lake, Minnesota.
This weekend, we are in Big Lake, Minnesota for our annual Steiner Family Reunion. We arrived in town on Thursday and set about enjoying our visit. In the morning, winds were high and the large awnings placed so carefully ended up being blown around by high winds. Later that day, the skies threatened, but as it turned out, only a few drops fell from the sky.
Just at the edge of our host’s back yard, a large tree stands majestically beside a community walking track. As sunset grew near, the skies opened a bit to let the golden tones through.
About the photo: Captured with my Samsung S7, I tried a couple of slightly different compositions and settled upon this image where the sky and the tree get almost equal billing. As usual, I used the automatic exposure metering system in the camera, shot at f/1.7, 1/240 sec. ISO-50. I then opened up the shadows in post processing to bring out more detail in the tree. The rule for Cellpic Sunday is simple. The image must be captured on a mobile device.

You can plan a pretty picnic, but you can’t predict the weather… It’s fortunate mother nature in the end decided to cooperate! Hopefully the mosquitoes agreed as well!
Saturday morning, Mother Nature threw a hissy fit and took down the tent awnings. By noon, however, all was apparently forgiven.
