This week’s challenge is up close and personal. Brie Anne asks us to share our attempts at macro photography. You can view the challenge post here.
My normal photo is a broad vista landscape, so it was a challenge for me to find examples. By chance, I’d happened to visit the butterfly exhibit in the Phoenix Botanical Garden, and I happened upon a butterfly on a thistle in Maplewood (Minnesota) State Park. I submit for your macro evaluation, a small gallery of butterflies.

Beautiful captures, John. 🙂
Thanks!
Lovely selection, John. Butterfly gardens or exhibits are such a great way to get photos of these often elusive beauties.

The Desert Botanical Garden has a very nice enclosure. Thanks for stopping by.
Big fan of butterfly 4 john! That pink flower really makes the shot pop. Excellent choices!
These are wonderful, John. I love butterflies! And I always stop FULL STOP when I see one. Lovely.
Thanks much, Karen. The shot with the thistle was taken in Minnesota, and I was just lucky. The rest were “easy pickins'” because they were in a sanctuary. 🙂

Good looking out! Butterflies can be difficult as they are so skittish… You got these spot on!
