Buckeye, Arizona.

On a hike in early April, we passed an interesting rock formation. Looking at the formation, I see a lady with her back to a masked bandit. I can imagine a story to go with this “sculpture” that includes the three “children” hiding on the lady’s right. I always enjoy “seeing” shapes of people or animals in the rock formations that are so plentiful in Arizona.

This hike is one of the trails near a planned community development in Buckeye called Verrado. Many of the trails in that area are maintained by a local mountain biking club. Though there aren’t easily available maps, the trails are plentiful and well-connected. There is a connecting trail to Skyline Park, the newest park in Buckeye, and there is a petroglyph hike that leads to a rock cropping that has centuries-old Native American writings.

About the photo: Captured with my Samsung S20U in 108-megapixel mode, I was able to crop the image extensively and the square format crop ended up being 3700×3700 pixels. That’s almost four times the size of the images I usually post here (1024 pixels on the long side). I imported the image into Lightroom and then did the final edits in Luminar AI.
