December 7, 1941 — A Day that will Live in Infamy

It’s the 74th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor Hawaii. A couple of years ago, I jotted down some thoughts and images from our trip to Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona memorial.

I recently learned that since 1982, survivors of the attack on the USS Arizona may be interred on the USS Arizona. Some veterans have chosen to rest in eternity with their shipmates.

This morning, my wife and I hiked in the Estrella Mountains, here in Arizona. When we hike, neither of us says very much. We have plenty of time to think about projects, upcoming trips, and the usual flotsam and jetsam that flows through one’s mind. As we were walking, I remembered that today is the 72nd anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
