Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.
It was 1903. On the outer banks, North Carolina, two bicycle makers from Ohio secured their name in Aviation history by making the first documented powered flight in an airplane.
We arrived a bit before sunset at the First Flight Airport to feature the Wright Brothers memorial at sunset. When we arrived, it was 5:10 PM. The gates were locked, they close at 5:00.
Not to be deterred, we found a good location where we could at least get a photo of the twilight sky with my cellphone for Cellpic Sunday. Stay tuned for an upcoming Travel Tuesday for more images from North Carolina. We will be visiting the memorial today during their open hours.
The rule for Cellpic Sunday is simple, the image must be captured and edited using a mobile device. Shot with my Samsung S6 and edited with Snapseed.

Very nice, especially given it was done with a cell phone. I’m jealous of your travels, having just finished David McCullough’s book on the Wright Brothers. I’d love to see the area. Cheers and Enjoy!
Thanks. How was the book? Someone on my Facebook page just asked if I read it yet.
It was good. I had difficulty with his books of Adams and American in Paris. This seemed more focused and like his earlier work =, which I’d loved. The Wright Brothers were interesting guys…just simple folks who were wicked smart and determined.
Love the shot! Very dramatic in a subtle way!
Thanks. We were fortunate that there was a nice viewpoint between high hedges so I could take the shot.
This pic turned out real nice!
Not as sharp as I would have liked, but the sky color makes up for it. 😀
