Mazatlan – A Tour of the City by Pulmonia

Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico

As I mentioned in an earlier post here, getting where you need to go is an inexpensive process in the unique Pulmonia taxi. The little open-air cars are great for photographers as they can stop almost anywhere, and it’s easy to just step out from under it’s awning to take a photo. The taxi service is so popular that there is even a testimonial statue in a small park along the beach featuring the iconic people-mover.

A monument to the Pulmonia.

A great option for a tour of the city is to find a friendly pulmonia driver. You should be able to get an hour tour  of the city for $25 US or less. We promptly changed our itinerary on one of our trips to town when we discovered our driver was friendly and spoke English very well. He was knowledgeable about the city and he drove us on a route that took us along the beach and up into the higher elevations for some great views of the city. For this week’s Travel Tuesday, I submit a small gallery of images taken on our impromptu tour of the city. Click on an image to enlarge it and to scroll through the gallery.
