Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2015 – A Gallery of Luxury Vehicles

1929 Cadillac Town Cabriolet Presidential Limosine

Barrett Jackson Scottsdale 2015 is now history. This year’s total sales was a record $130 million US. I look forward to visiting each year along with thousands of other automobile enthusiasts, only a small percentage of whom can afford some of the best the auction has to offer for sale. A typical example is the vehicle above, a 1929 Cadillac Town Cabriolet that was Herbert Hoover’s Presidential vehicle. Shown below is the Presidential lap robe, complete with embroidered seal, given to the President by General Motors to shield the Presidential legs from the drafty interior airflow typical of cars in that era.

While there are many types of cars available for sale, from custom hot rods to historically accurate restorations, there are some unique one-of-a-kind vehicles as well. The automobile below doesn’t look luxurious, but it took over a quarter of a million dollars US to purchase this vehicle designed for the Clampett family, fans of the 1960s era sitcom will recognize immediately as the Beverly Hillbillies.

For this week’s blog post, I submit for your approval, a gallery of luxury cars offered for sale at Baarrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2015. Click on an image to enlarge it and to scroll through the gallery.

Finally, I present one of only ten manufactured, the GM Futurliner bus. These portable stages were built in 1950 and toured the country showing off General Motors products for about six years. There are only three examples known to be remaining and this unit sold as a charity fundraiser for $4 million US.
