Maricopa, Arizona.
Gene Tweedy is posing with one of his artistic creations, a dwarf car. Gene and his colleague, Ernie Adams, show off their creations at a free-will donation museum in Maricopa. Their hand-built automobiles are constructed to an 11/16th scale. The vehicles are typically powered by a 4-cylinder engine, and are street legal for driving on Arizona highways.
On the day of our visit, we were lucky to find Gene hard at work on a new creation a mid-60’s era Chevrolet Impala convertible. By now, it’s probably finished, and we should plan a stop to visit to check it out. I learned about the Dwarf Car Museum from an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage on CNBC, and it was a lucky find. They have many cars there, all hand-built and on display. You can read more about the museum from an earlier Travel Tuesday post here. If you’d just like to see more of these small-car wonders, click on the image above to visit my Flickr gallery where you can view them all in HD format.
About the photo: Captured with my Samsung S7, I veered from my usual trip through Luminar. The image was processed using Lightroom and HDR Efex 2, part of the Nik Collection, now being published by DxO software.
I am entering this post as a challenge-response to Marsha Ingrao and Cee Neuner’s Photographing Public Art Challenge #PPAC. While this car is in a museum, you might just find it parked on a street or driving down the streets of Maricopa. That’s public art on display. Cee’s challenge rules are posted here.
I encourage fellow bloggers to create their own Cellpic Sunday posts. I never have a specific topic for this feature, and the only rules are that the photo must be captured with a cell phone, iPad, or another mobile device… If you have an image from a drone or even a dashcam, that’s acceptable as well. The second rule is to link your challenge-response to this post or leave a comment here with a link to your post in the comment.

This picture is so cool. At first I thought the person was a cardboard cutout that was oversized. I never thought the car was undersized.

[…] Hi all 😃 This is my latest post for John’s Cellpic Sunday. […]
Fantastic looking car, John 👏 11/16th scale would probably be the perfect size for the roads over here 😂 Here’s mine: https://jezbraithwaite.blog/2021/10/18/forth-and-clyde-canal-cellpic-sunday/
Dwarf cars that can be driven! I want to see them in person, but your photo will do for now.
If you get to the Phoenix area, it’s worth the drive into Maricopa to visit the museum, for sure.
