Since the week started with April Fool’s Day, Donna of WindKisses has a tricky challenge for us. She writes, “This week, it is my turn to host the Lens-Artists Challenge: It’s Tricky! If you’d like to fool us, this is your week. Otherwise, I hope I can inspire you, or trick you into joining the fun.” You can find her original challenge post here.
My response includes images where I have attempted to fool my readers, though I always let people know how they are being tricked. in my opening example, I replaced the sky, originally a drab, gray overcast with a much more dramatic sky.
In this image, taken at midday, I lowered the exposure in post, then used Luminar Neo’s Sunrays control to add the appearance of the lighthouse in operation.
I found an artistic style in the photo editing app on my cellphone and used it to “trick” the viewer into getting the impression that this image might be a photo of a painting. It is one of my favorite images as it combines street photography with an artistic interpretation.
Thanks to Donna for this tricky challenge. As we are heading back home from Europe today, I am hoping to return to my usual posting schedule, and to catch up with lots of blog reading I missed since I was limited with Internet access to about 20 minutes a day on our 15-day transatlantic cruise.
I am looking forward to next week’s challenge with a guest host presiding.
John Steiner
I read the Maniacal Lighthouse and was suitably impressed with the photo but I do so love the Gentlemen of Betanzos since the first time you posted it. Everything is just so perfect 🙂
Thank you so much, Brian! I appreciate your compliment.
Your editing on that lighthouse shot is so effective, you could fool anyone into thinking it was taken at night, I reckon!
Thanks, Sarah!
Great tricks John! Safe travels home.
Thanks, Anne!
😊
Beautiful photography for this week 😀 😀
Thanks, Cee!!
Great choices for the week John. I remember your closing image – loved it then and love it now! Hope your travels are going well.
Thanks, Tina! The travel is another thing. I will be sharing the rest of the story soon. Hint, we were supposed to be home yesterday.
There is no place like home, click click, no place like home, click click.
I went back a few times to each of the first two photos after I read how you edited the images. Tricky indeed. I love the dramatic sky, and like Sarah, you could fool anyone with that. A green shot. I too remember the Gentlemen photo/painting.Sounds like travel has been a bit trick too. As long as the dash in-between the start and end date were memorable than all is good, right? thanks you taking the time to respond this week even with your busy schedule.
I am glad to have a more robust Internet connection. I missed reading the blogs.
It feels like family, doesn’t it?
Indeed!
I like each of these!
Thanks!
it is tricky to do additions that look right, artistic take is fun and in my opinion easier, but you do need to knoe what todo
I love the painting effect, John. It works so well for that picture!
Excellent editing, John. I love your first shot, it does suit a more dramatic sky!
