Yesterday we were introduced to a brand new park in Buckeye. Skyline Park had their grand opening on January 9 and is managed by the city of Buckeye. The park consists of 8675 acres (35 sq. km) of pristine desert with a proposed 27 miles (43 km) of trails. As of its opening day, only about 4 miles (6 km) of trails are open, a small percentage of future trail expansion plans. They are well marked, professionally groomed and available for hiking, mountain biking and equestrian use. A small number of campsites are also available for overnight stays. The view above is looking west into the valley from the Turnbuckle Trail, the largest loop trail in the park. Best news for us is that this gem is only about three miles from our Buckeye home. No more driving 30-minutes to begin a spur-of-the-moment hike. In fact, I think we will go hiking this afternoon.
The rule for the Cellpic Sunday challenge is simple. The image must be captured and edited using a mobile device. The above image was captured on my Samsung S6 cellphone and edited on my iPad via Snapseed.

The desert of the Southwest has such a rugged beauty. Very nice!
Before becoming an Arizona snowbird, I had no concept of the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Thanks for stopping by.
