Miami, Florida.

It seems like a year ago, but on February 8, we departed Miami on the Carnival Conquest for a western Caribbean cruise. Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing photos from some of the excursions on that trip. If you are reading this on its publication date, Lynn and I, along with my niece and her husband would already be in Rome on our 50th Wedding Anniversary cruise and our first trip to Europe. Of course, you know we aren’t going anywhere far away anytime soon.

About the photo: On our way out of the Port of Miami, we passed several cruise ships that were getting ready to depart as well. The closest is the Carnival Horizon and the furthest is Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas. The middle ship, however, turned out to be the one we were most interested in checking out as we sailed by. It’s Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Escape. It is the ship we were scheduled to be boarding out of Rome. It would have been the largest cruise ship we’ve ever been on. This image was captured with my Samsung S6 cellphone on a cloudy afternoon. The camera’s auto-exposure set itself to f/1.9, 1/1050 sec., and ISO-40.

Postscript: We got a credit for the Mediterranean cruise, so we decided to wait a year before trying again. Hopefully this pandemic will be behind us and we’ll be off on another adventure on the seas.
