Note: I meant to schedule this post to run on Sunday… You know.. Cellpic Sunday and all! Accidently hit the Publish button before setting the date… so, one day early, here’s my weekly cellpic photo.

Today’s Cellpic Sunday photo is a sneak preview of an upcoming travel post featuring a walk around the DC metro. Union Station, completed in 1908, was a rail hub for most of the 20th century. Most of its rail use was in the first half, however it still operates as an Amtrak depot as well as a tourist attraction and visitor center.

The national historic site underwent a $160 million USD restoration in the 1980s and Amtrak now uses space in the facility as their national offices. Shops and restaurants occupy over 250,000 square feet (23,000 sq. meters).

Our reason, however, for visiting the building on this day was for the use of the Metrorail station located on the far left of the building as viewed in this photo. In a future post, we spend some time focusing on the Metrorail system to sightsee around the city. This photo was captured using my Samsung S6 and edited on an iPad.
