Estrella Mountain Regional Park is about 15 miles from our house in Buckeye, and is the closest Maricopa County park in our area. Consequently, we spend a lot of our hiking time there. The day was bright and much less moody than this image edit would have the viewer believe.
On January 6, a cool (by Arizona standards) and partly cloudy day, we were hiking in the afternoon to take advantage of the day’s heat. Hiking along one of our favorite trails, I looked north to see the White Tank Mountain Range in the distance rising above the farmland in the Gila River Valley. Using artistic license, in my photo editor I darkened the shadows in an attempt to emphasize cloud shadows more visibly on the ground. In doing so, the editor also darkened the shadows on the bottoms of the clouds. The photo went from being bright and sunny to dark and moody. I leave you with the results of this happy accident of editing. Image captured by my Samsung S6 cell phone, f/1.9 1/1300 sec. ISO-40.
The rule for Cellpic Sunday is simple. The image must be captured and edited on a mobile device.
