Cellpic Sunday – 3 November 2019

Drayton, North Dakota.

Last week I shared an aerial image captured in mid-October of flooded areas of the James River near Oakes, North Dakota. This week’s cellpic features a view from the parking area of the Alexander Henry Rest Area along I-29 between Grand Forks and the Canadian border. The Park River flows underneath bridges built on Interstate-29. This view features the southbound bridge. As you can see, the water level is nearly up to the base of the bridge. As I noted last week, that amount of flooding in the fall foretells the possibility of serious flooding along the major rivers in North Dakota in the spring.

About the image: The rest area is not normally on the edge of the river, though it is close. Flooding here is only a few feet from the edge of the parking area as you can see. When I captured this image using my Samsung S7 cell phone, I was looking slightly to the north of west toward the Interstate bridge. I processed the photo with Adobe Lightroom and Luminar Flex. In most browsers, you can click on the image for a better view. The rule for Cellpic Sunday is simple. The image must be captured on a mobile device.
