Cellpic Sunday – Taco Vultures

Canton MS

Canton, Mississippi.

As we left our hotel in Canton Mississippi on our fall journey, I noticed the Taco Bell across the street was host to a flock of Taco Vultures. The Taco Vulture is a rare genus of the much more common turkey vulture. The taco vulture is distinguished by the desire to flock to Taco Bell restaurants. A sign in the window of the Taco Bell is the likely attraction. It reads, “Free Food Rewards.”

About the photo: From my rear seat vantage point in the Chevy Suburban we were traveling in, I spotted the vultures as we pulled out of the hotel parking lot across the street. I rolled down the rear window and snapped a quick photo with my Samsung S23U. In my haste to capture the image, I didn’t realize that I didn’t leave enough space above the building to completely include the upper level of birds sitting on the sign.

I loaded the image into Lightroom for basic tweaks and then sent it off to Luminar Neo for final edits. It was a simple edit and I used Neo’s powerline erase function to remove a power line that was running across the top of the building. I also erased a power pole with two transformers that was behind the building and was visible to the viewer’s left of the three rightmost vultures.

I encourage fellow bloggers to create their own Cellpic Sunday posts. I never have a specific topic for this feature, and the only rules are that the photo must be captured with a cell phone, iPad, or another mobile device… If you have an image from a drone or even a dashcam, that’s acceptable as well. The second rule is to link your challenge response to this post or leave a comment here with a link to your post in the comment. Oh, and, you don’t have to post it on a Sunday.
