Canton, Mississippi.
As we left our hotel in Canton Mississippi on our fall journey, I noticed the Taco Bell across the street was host to a flock of Taco Vultures. The Taco Vulture is a rare genus of the much more common turkey vulture. The taco vulture is distinguished by the desire to flock to Taco Bell restaurants. A sign in the window of the Taco Bell is the likely attraction. It reads, “Free Food Rewards.”
About the photo: From my rear seat vantage point in the Chevy Suburban we were traveling in, I spotted the vultures as we pulled out of the hotel parking lot across the street. I rolled down the rear window and snapped a quick photo with my Samsung S23U. In my haste to capture the image, I didn’t realize that I didn’t leave enough space above the building to completely include the upper level of birds sitting on the sign.
I loaded the image into Lightroom for basic tweaks and then sent it off to Luminar Neo for final edits. It was a simple edit and I used Neo’s powerline erase function to remove a power line that was running across the top of the building. I also erased a power pole with two transformers that was behind the building and was visible to the viewer’s left of the three rightmost vultures.
I encourage fellow bloggers to create their own Cellpic Sunday posts. I never have a specific topic for this feature, and the only rules are that the photo must be captured with a cell phone, iPad, or another mobile device… If you have an image from a drone or even a dashcam, that’s acceptable as well. The second rule is to link your challenge response to this post or leave a comment here with a link to your post in the comment. Oh, and, you don’t have to post it on a Sunday.

Interesting capture.
Are these vultures seen regularly at any of the Taco Bell restaurants all the time?
There are Taco Bell restaurants all over the country. I’ve never seen them gather around any restaurants. Why they picked on this Taco Bell is a mystery to me, Philo!
It’s interesting to note this.
Probably this particular restaurant staffs feed these birds regularly.
I wonder if they found a source of nearby meals!
Looks like that.
Nice blog though ..🤩 I would like us to follow each other please 🙏
Done!
Thanks I really appreciate that 🙏🤝

In the preview on my phone I thought you had chosen a fancy name for the local crow population. Then on the pc screen – yikes! These are really vultures! 😮
I, on the other hand, spotted an alien: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2023/12/31/the-little-alien-was-dancing-in-the-shower/
One only has to open their eyes to see aliens. 🙂

Now that is a lot of turkey vultures, John! Great capture and explanation of how you edited it. I would be concerned that their presence meant something was dead 😉 Here is mine this week: https://secondwindleisure.com/2023/12/31/sunday-stills-looking-back-at-the-best-of-2023/
I like the way you wrapped that photo in humor John.
Thanks. Certainly an unusual sighting. 🙂
😊
This is so funny to me since I’ve read so many crazy comments about Taco Bell food. 😂
I am glad you enjoyed the humor. 🙂
Yep! Instagram has some funny comments on anything Taco Bell. Be well!
Haha, this is a fun spot 🤣
Yep, Sarah!
Great capture John!
Thanks. Right place at the right time.

Oh, John, I think this photo begs the question: what does it say about Taco Bell food? Good capture!
Indeed, it does!
Good observation, John. In ours we have the seagulls in McDonalds. Happy New Year!
