Quincy, Washington.
Near mile marker 139 on I-90 is a rest area and scenic view. Of course, I had to check it out on our #RoadTrip2020. That bridge in the distance carries traffic on I-90 over the Columbia River. The river is wide here as a nearby dam downstream has created Wanapum Lake.
There is actually another attraction at this site, the Wild Horse Monument (but I’m saving that for a future Cellpic Sunday). Anyway this rest stop is a two-for-one deal. Frankly, the most impressive sight is the view of the lake.
About the photo: Captured on my Samsung S20U, the overcast left a dull image at the camera’s setting of f/1.8, 1/1200 sec., ISO-16. As usual, the trip through Lightroom and Luminar 4 brought out the details in the foreground and those overcast skies. As I have often written, selecting the image will give you a better look in most browsers.

You are right, by clicking on the photo, its sharpness is even more evident.
It’s no wonder that camera companies are having trouble selling dedicated cameras when cell phone cameras can work so well, and they are being carried around anyway,
I might be old school, hoping that one day my camera will allow me to make a phone call 🙂
Beautiful photo, sir!
Thank you!
It would seem the surrounding area is rather arid, John – was the dam intended for irrigation?
Washington state has over 1100 dams on its rivers. They are almost all dedicated to generating electricity. The reservoirs aren’t large as they depend upon water flowing through the turbines rather than for water storage. This was an interesting lesson for me to learn about the state.
And for me, thanks John!
