New York, New York.
We were up early after returning to New York City on the Carnival Magic. It was still dark as we entered the Hudson River, but we slowly made our way upriver to the docks. As we neared the ship’s berth, the beauty of Manhattan Island’s cityscape took on an extra glow as the sun began to light the clouds on an overcast morning.
About the photo: I captured this image with my Samsung S23U and originally, it was framed with the balcony deck rail and the superstructure around the deck. I cropped out the extraneous border and adjusted the level in Lightroom Classic. Then I shipped it off to Luminar Neo. In Neo, I don’t often use the presets provided, but I decided in this case, I’d see what might work with this image. I used a Dream Film preset that emphasized the original image’s golden tones. I subscribe to Luminar X through Skylum which provides multiple presets and skies each month. As a result, I don’t know if this particular preset came from the stock Neo presets or if it came from one of the subscription items. From there, I made my usual adjustments to Structure (just a touch, no more than 8). Though I usually use Enhance AI, the preset provided all of the enhancement the image needed so with that, I called the image complete. To view the image in 2K HD on my Flickr site, just click on it.
I encourage fellow bloggers to create their own Cellpic Sunday posts. I never have a specific topic for this feature, and the only rules are that the photo must be captured with a cell phone, iPad, or another mobile device… If you have an image from a drone or even a dashcam, that’s acceptable as well. The second rule is to link your challenge response to this post or leave a comment here with a link to your post in the comment. Oh, and, you don’t have to post it on a Sunday.

I feel a bit funny about using different preset skies – but as I don’t usually do anything to my photos beyond straightening and cropping, I’m no judge! Nevertheless, I’m joining in on Cellpic Sunday for the first time: https://margaret21.com/2023/12/03/silent-sunday-in-the-snow/
Thanks for joining in, Margaret. We are on the last day of our cruise and don’t have much Internet time remaining. I look forward to checking out your post when we arrive in Miami tomorrow
No hurry. Enjoy your holiday to the full!
Stunning!
Thanks, Dawn!

Beautiful shot!
Thanks, Hien!
Looking as lovely as this even I might be persuaded to venture off the ship into New York…
I am not a fan of big cities, but New York City is a must visit.

John, my Sunday Stills theme is peace this week, and you’ve managed to capture NYC in a rare peaceful moment. Beautiful image! Enjoy your last day and welcome home! Here is mine this week! https://secondwindleisure.com/2023/12/03/sunday-stills-waiting-for-peace/
Amazing shot, John 👏 Worthy of a frame & a place on the lounge wall 😃 I’ll be linking in tomorrow!
Thanks, Jez!
Great colors!
Thanks. Egidio! It turned out much better than I expected.
On a return from Bermuda to NYC some years ago, the sun was just breaking as we passed the Statue of Liberty. Do I have a photo, f course not.
These days, cell phone cameras give us more opportunities to capture memories.

Iconic New York photo!!
Thanks, Nora!
Very nice photo, I really like it. It confirms the idea that I’ve probably missed half my life by not getting up early enough.
I agree with Lookoom. You got a great shot. Where’s the Statue of Liberty? A different view, I’m sure. Could you see her as you came in?
Lady Liberty is on the west side of the river channel. We saw her from our balcony on the way out of New York. On our way back, she was on the other side of the ship. We could have seen her from one of the public decks on that side.
I got some good pics of her when we were outbound and even more when we took a small cruise boat on the Hudson before our departure.
As you can see I don’t have my NYC coastline memorized. 🙂
Nor do I. We have only been there twice, once for a two-day stay before boarding a cruise ship and then when we returned from the cruise. We didn’t even stay overnight. We took an Uber to where our car was parked.
Our knowledge base is in other places. 🙂
Indeed!
I love the finished product of these photos!
Thanks!
