Cellpic Sunday – Arrival at New York City

Early morning arrival in New York.

New York, New York.

We were up early after returning to New York City on the Carnival Magic. It was still dark as we entered the Hudson River, but we slowly made our way upriver to the docks. As we neared the ship’s berth, the beauty of Manhattan Island’s cityscape took on an extra glow as the sun began to light the clouds on an overcast morning.

About the photo: I captured this image with my Samsung S23U and originally, it was framed with the balcony deck rail and the superstructure around the deck. I cropped out the extraneous border and adjusted the level in Lightroom Classic. Then I shipped it off to Luminar Neo. In Neo, I don’t often use the presets provided, but I decided in this case, I’d see what might work with this image. I used a Dream Film preset that emphasized the original image’s golden tones. I subscribe to Luminar X through Skylum which provides multiple presets and skies each month. As a result, I don’t know if this particular preset came from the stock Neo presets or if it came from one of the subscription items. From there, I made my usual adjustments to Structure (just a touch, no more than 8). Though I usually use Enhance AI, the preset provided all of the enhancement the image needed so with that, I called the image complete. To view the image in 2K HD on my Flickr site, just click on it.

I encourage fellow bloggers to create their own Cellpic Sunday posts. I never have a specific topic for this feature, and the only rules are that the photo must be captured with a cell phone, iPad, or another mobile device… If you have an image from a drone or even a dashcam, that’s acceptable as well. The second rule is to link your challenge response to this post or leave a comment here with a link to your post in the comment. Oh, and, you don’t have to post it on a Sunday.
