Cellpic Sunday – 17 April 2016

Fargo, North Dakota.

Driving through South Fargo shortly after arriving home for the summer, we passed a small retail development that I was to learn is called Woodhaven Plaza. The area around this development is filling with new houses and apartments. What I found interesting is the design of the retail storefronts. The appearance is old-style “downtown” where each small section of building is designed differently from the next section.

On the opposite side of the retail space is a collection of residential spaces, two story townhomes and third floor condos.  In addition, there are apartment rentals. The residences, like the retail space, appear to be separate buildings tied together in an apparently haphazard fashion.

At the Woodhaven Plaza website, they market the downtown atmosphere. “…live in the same building as you bank, drink coffee & enjoy conversation with friends just down the stairs from your home.”

It will be interesting to see how this neighborly neighborhood fares in the long term.

The rule for Cellpic Sunday is simple. The image must be captured and edited with a mobile device. This image was captured with a Samsung S6 and edited on an iPad.

  1. What a cool idea, there is such a stranglehold on developments here, that no one would ever be able to do an eclectic mish-mash like this. Fargo is kind of quirky and cool like that. Like a really cold Houston.
